Mary Ann Ortiz

Mary Ann S. Ortiz, age 64, was reunited with her beloved husband on Monday, May 6, 2024 while surrounded by family at the P.A.M. Medical Center, located in San Antonio, Texas. She was born on September 2, 1959 in Del Rio. Mary Ann was a light that shined bright. She touch many lives through Laughlin AFB and Val Verde Regional Medical Center. Mary Ann was always ready and willing to go the extra mile for anyone needing assistance. Those that had the opportunity to know her and knew how amazing she was will always remember her. "She was such a loving person: someone who loved family and understood the power of memory. She is the reason I found the love to crochet. She was a lover of books, yarn, family and worshiped the Lord endlessly. I love you so much and will miss you so much." - Chavonne Sanchez "She was such a loving woman. I grew up watching her impact other people's lives by just the simplest of actions. She never let me misspeak because she was a human dictionary. She passed on the love of reading, writing, and acts of generosity. I'll never forget the love that she had for me and my family because she would always show it." - Horacio A. Moreno II Preceding her in death was her beloved of 23 years, SGT. Abelardo "Abel" Ortiz, VET USMC; and father, Jaime C. Sanchez, Sr.; Family members left to cherish her memory include her son, Horacio A. Moreno II and wife Diana Moreno of Del Rio, and Bianca A. Perez and husband Elmer Perez of Florida; mother, Elsa Sanchez of Del Rio; siblings: Jaime C. Sanchez Jr.(Gliceria), Rosa Esquivel (Eduardo), Griselda Hernandez (Gerardo), Alberto Sanchez (Cindy), and Yvonne Uriega; grandchildren: Abel Moreno, Xavier Perez, Leilani Perez, Joseph Perez, Iliana Moreno, Evangelina Carlos; Mary Ann is also survived by other relatives and close friends. Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, May 22nd, 2024 at 2:00 PM Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery (1520 Harry Wuzbach Rd., San Antonio, TX 78209). All are welcomed to attend. Pallbearers will be: Paul Hughes, Horacio A. Moreno II, Abel Portillo, Emilio Reyna, Gerardo Hernandez, and Jorge Hernandez. Serving as an honorary pallbearer will be Angel Martinez and Jerry Hernandez Jr.
