September 8, 1941 - January 20, 2021
Sagrario “Chayo” Rodriguez, age 79 entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, January 20, 2021 in Del Rio, Texas. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband Jesse Rodriguez, her parents Manuel and Feliz Jimenez, her sisters Yolanda Lee, Stephanie Pearson, and brother Ernesto Jimenez. Chayo was born on September 8, 1941 to Manuel and Feliz Jimenez in Del Rio, Tx. She attended Del Rio High School and soon after married her love of her life, Jesse and had 5 children. In 1967, they moved their family to New Haven, Connecticut where she quickly found a job working with people at the social service office. In 1974, she moved back to her home town of Del Rio where she started her career touching lives of children working for Bible Way Christian Academy and then SFDRCISD as a teachers aide. She ended her career with the migrant program retiring after 27 years. Although Chayo retired, she was never the kind to stay still. She continued to work with the athletics department for SFDRCISD monitoring ticket sells at UIL events taking pride working and talking with everyone she came in contact with until tending to her husband after his health declined. Throughout her life, Chayo loved talking to people no matter if she knew them or they were complete strangers. She made friends with everyone, witnessing to them about her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Her desire was for everyone to be saved so they will one day go to Heaven. Her family always told her she needed to be a greater at Walmart since she loved being there to talk to. Chayo’s foundation of her Lord came from her apostolic background from First Assembly of God, Tabernacle Church, Bible Way Church, LivingStone Worship, and her current place of worship, Promiseland Church. She didn’t allow out of town trips to keep her from the house of the Lord, attending Life Point Church in San Antonio. She would light up in excitement when family would join her to her place of worship. She loved worshiping, greeting people at church, giving her testimony, and praying for people. Her love of Christ was shown to all her family, friends, and strangers. She will forever be remembered to all as the spunky, strong, prayer warrior who was never afraid to speak her mind. Chayo also enjoyed spending time with her family at bingo and the casino, eating at her favorite restaurants like Cripple Creek, walking at Walmart talking to people, reading her word, singing and worshiping to her Lord, teaching her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren how to pray and sing to her God, and spending time and talking with sisters. Chayo’s family was her world and she loved them very much. She was involved with every one of them and prayed for them day and night for whatever their needs where. We could always count on her to write down our prayer petitions. Our beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend will be forever loved and missed. Left to cherish her memory is her daughter Linda Terra (Alan) from Altus, OK, son Jesse III (Jessica) from San Antonio, TX, Patsy Bito (Anthony) from Helotes, TX, daughter Chayito Fuentez (Oscar) from Del Río, TX, daughter Gloria Messemberg ( Kiki) from San Antonio, TX, her grandson she raised as her own son Tony Jasso (Angie) from Del Río, TX, and her 18 grandchildren, and 35 great grandchildren and one great grandchild on the way. She also leaves behind her sisters Gloria Aquilino (Ronald), Alice Williams (Bob), and Cynthia Delgado (Fred), numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins. Pallbearers are Randy Rodriguez, J.R. Rodriguez, John David Torres, Warren Bito, O.J. Fuentez, and Jaden Jasso. The family would like to thank Val Verde Regional Medical Center, Doctors and nursing staff who took amazing care of Chayo during her battle with Covid. Thank you so much for all your support during this difficult time. Your humility, kindness, and strength are greatly appreciated. Thank you to nurse Molly who was there holding her hand as she took her last breath and entered into the Kingdom of Heaven. We will forever be grateful you where there in our place.
