Francisco Velasquez, Jr. Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Francisco “Canque” Velasquez, Jr., age 62, passed away Monday, December 1, 2014 in Del Rio. He was born August 9, 1952 in Del Rio. Frank was a very active person in our community. He was involved in the following organizations: American Legion, Commander of the Disabled American Veterans (DAV), American Federation of Government Employees local chapter 1749, and a coach for the American Little League. He was also a substitute teacher for the SFDRCISD. Frank was a terrific husband, father and grandfather. He loved his family, his country and was a huge Dallas Cowboys Fan. He will be missed by many. Preceding him in death was his father, Francisco Velasquez Sr. and infant son, Joshua Velasquez. Surviving family members include his beloved wife, Sylvia A. Velasquez; daughters: Mona Casillas and husband Derek, Victoria Randez and fiancé Aaron D. Rodriguez; son, Nicholas Velasquez; grandchildren: David Garza, Jadyn Casillas, Syann Casillas, Erin Thomas, Devyn Alina Casillas, and Aaron Jacob Rodriguez; mother, Amelia Velasquez; sister, Soyla Velasquez; brother, Sam Velasquez and wife Ana; nephews, Samuel Velasquez Jr. and Arthur Mendez Jr.; nieces, Cynthia Mendez and Christina Mendez. Visitation will be held Thursday from 5-9 in the funeral home chapel. A Holy Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. A Funeral Mass is scheduled for Friday, December 5, 2014 at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Oaks Cemetery. Full military honors will be rendered by the United States Navy and the American Legion Honor Guard Post #595. Serving as Pallbearers will be: Derek Casillas, David Garza, Aaron D. Rodriguez, Arthur Mendez Jr., Samuel Velasquez Jr., and Alfredo Villarreal; Honorary Pallbearers: Stanley Jennings, Richard Vann, Tino Riojas Jr., and Raul Castorena.
