Elizabeth "Liz" Mayes

September 12, 1958 - February 4, 2021

On Thursday, February 4, 2021, Elizabeth "Liz" Carol Moore Mayes went to be with the Lord at the age of 62. Liz was born on September 12, 1958 in Kountze, Texas to Garland and Inez (Creel) Moore. She was the youngest with three older sisters, Evelyn Lowrie, Judy Bertling and Jerry Sides. She grew up in Waxahachie where she graduated. She later attended Laredo Junior College and Southwest Texas Junior College. She was employed at Legacy Realty for 17 years as a real estate agent and property manager. Her heart was helping others purchase homes and was well known and loved in the Del Rio area. Liz was a beloved wife, a devoted mother, a treasured sister, a cherished aunt, and an adored grandmother and great-grandmother. She lived her life to the fullest; she did not waste any time that could be used for caring for those around her. She was married to the love of her life, Royce Mayes for 42 years. They have four children: Chad Mayes of Waxahachie, TX, Tracy (James) Foster of Anna, TX, Billy (Kim) Mayes of Del Rio, TX, Michael (Jasmine) Mayes of Del Rio, TX, and adopted son, Javier Rosas of Del Rio, Texas. In addition to their own children, Royce and Liz raised three of their grandchildren, Victoria, Nathaniel, and Dorian. She was a proud Nana to Peyton, Kelsey, Briana, Braeden, Kaitlyn, Kaleb, Carly, Amee, Jayden, and great-grandchildren Channing and Maddox. She is survived by her husband, 4 children, 12 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, sisters Evelyn Lowrie and Judy (Gerald) Bertling. She is preceded in death by her parents, Garland and Inez Moore, sister, Jerry Moore Sides, and brother-in-law, Cecil Lowrie. A visitation will be held on Monday, February 8, 2021 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Trinity Chapel of Faith. A Chapel Service will be held on Tuesday, February 9, 2021 at 10 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Officiating will be Pastor Martin Seca. Burial will follow at Sunset Cemetery.
