Our father, Alfredo Carranza, has gone home to the Lord on January 24, 2014, in Del Rio, Texas, surrounded by his family. He has gone to be with his loving wife, Gloria, who preceded him in death in 2009. Alfredo was preceded in death by his parents, Herminia and Jesus Carranza; granddaughter, Monica Galindo; brother, Ricardo Carranza; sisters, Maria Torres and Alicia Avalos. He is survived by his children: Gloria Galindo, Romelia Ramirez and husband Andrew, Irma Ramos, Velma Aguirre and husband Ruben, Alfredo Carranza Jr. and wife Delia, and Patricia Martinez and husband Oscar. He has 19 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. They were the love of his life. He is also survived by sister, Amelia Garza; brother-in-law, Abelardo Paniagua; sisters-in-law, Olivia Paniagua, Enedina Paniagua, and Esperanza Paniagua. Alfredo was owner of Del Rio Motor Co. and All Parts Auto Supply. He and Gloria worked together there for 50 years before retiring. He was a highly respected member of the community with many long time, loyal customers and friends. He was a past president of the San Felipe Lions Club and a board member and part owner of the former American Bank of Commerce. He was also proud owner of several rental properties. Alfredo was dedicated to his wife and children. He instilled in them the importance of a strong work ethic, a good education, and above all - honesty. We will greatly miss “Grandpa”.
