Hilario G. Rodriguez

Hilario Gallegos Rodriguez, age 85, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 16, 2026 while surrounded by family in San Antonio, Texas. He was born on January 14, 1941 in Musquiz, Coahuila, Mexico. Hilario was a very talented musician who performed with a musical trio for numerous festive events. He also serenaded mothers on Mother's Day. Professionally, Hilario worked as a plumber for the City of Del Río Parks and Recreation Department for 13 years. He also worked as a cemetery grave excavator for Don's Funeral Chapels during the late 1960's. He was contracted directly by Mr. Donato Guajardo Sr. During his past time, Hilario enjoyed fishing, going the community nutrition center, which was better known as the Joe Ramos Center. He also enjoyed singing and being with his friends. Hilario was a frequent visitor of Dunkin' Donuts here locally. Preceding him in death were his children: Guadalupe Rodriguez and Jose Hilario Rodriguez; brothers, Isidro Rodriguez and Jesus Rodriguez; son-in-law, Juan Ibarra; and parents, Carmen and Isidro Rodriguez; Surviving family members include his children: Maria Guadalupe Hidalgo and husband Gerardo Hidalgo of Del Río, Javier "T.J." Rodriguez and wife Lori Rodriguez Fairbault, MN, Gloria Ibarra of Del Río, Maria Cervantes and husband Raul Cervantes El Paso, TX, Norma Ewing and husband Bryan Ewing of Bellevue, NB, Laura Rodriguez and wife Crystal Maldonado of San Antonio, TX, Rosario Perez and husband Miguel Perez of Del Rio, and Raquel Torres and husband Ray Torres of Del Rio; siblings: Martin Rodriguez and wife Chavela Rodriguez of Fort Worth, TX, Guadalupe Cabrera and husband Salvador Cabrera of Fort Worth, Aristeo Rodriguez of Ciudad Acuna, MX, Miguel Rodriguez and wife Sabina Rodriguez of Fort Worth, and Estella Pritchard and husband Timothy "Tim" Pritchard of Fort Worth; Hilario is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other close relatives and friends. Visitation and funeral Mass are pending at this time. Burial will follow at San Felipe Cemetery. Pallbearers will be: Gerado Hidalgo, Ray Torres, Miguel Perez, Javier Rodriguez, Laura Rodriguez, and Norma Ewing. Honorary Pallbearer will be Mary Cervantes.
