Consuelo "Money" Aguirre

Our dear mother Consuelo D. “Connie” Aguirre peacefully passed away on February 12, 2024 in Del Rio, Texas at the age of 71 surrounded by her family. Consuelo is preceded in death by her parents Manuel and Manuela R. Delgado, in-laws Tomas C. and Antonia V. Aguirre, brothers/sisters Bertha Cordova, Albert, Rudolfo, Rosa “Elva,” and Manuel Delgado. Surviving family members are her husband of 52 years, David, daughters Michelle (Trini Barrientez), Janice (Antonio Segura), Carolina (Joel Ealy), grandchildren Brianna (Abel Marquez), Aneesa, Aria, Aiden, Alexis, Brooke, A.J., Ace, great granddaughter Sofia Marquez and sister Dolores Torres. She also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews. Consuelo was a 1971 graduate of San Felipe High School. Soon after graduation she married her life partner, David Aguirre, with whom she shared 52 years of love and happiness. They have three daughters, eight grandchildren and one great grandchild. Consuelo earned a Bachelor’s degree from Sul Ross State University. She was a well-known educator for 34 years with San Felipe Del Rio Consolidated School District. Teaching was her calling. She loved being around her students and coworkers, which is why shortly after her retirement in 2014, she continued her passion as a substitute teacher; she simply could not stay away from the classroom. Throughout her years, she made many close friends and continued to keep in touch with them until her passing. She really loved spending her free time at the Lucky Eagle casino with her sister-in-law Maria Elena and her husband Joe Cardenas. We know she will be cheering them on from heaven and spreading some of her good luck. Our mother put her family first and is the reason for our many gatherings and holiday traditions. We will cherish our countless memories with her until the day we see her again. She is loved and will be missed, but her memory will live on forever through us. She was affectionately given the name “Money” by her oldest granddaughter Brianna and the rest of the grandchildren followed suit. There is no meaning to the name, but MOM will always be our “Money.” “In the hearts of those who loved you, you will always be there.” We are reminded how short life really is and how we are just passing through...Until We Meet Again. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 5 to 9 p.m. in the Trinity Chapel of Faith. A Holy Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, February 16, 2024 at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Sunset Cemetery.
