Arturo C. Sanchez, "Corro" VET. USAR, age 89, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 21, 2026 while surrounded by his loving family, here in Del Rio. He was born on July 15, 1936 in Del Rio. Our dad raised eight children and taught each one of us how to ranch and survive off of the land. He was the superintendent of the city of Del Rio water department for many years until her retirement and spent all of his evenings after work at his ranch "La Vega" he lived for his animals, his goats, his pigs, his chickens, all other farm animals that's where he spent his evenings with his friends. After retirement, he opened his boot shop, Rogers boot and shoe repair. shoe repair was always a part of the Sanchez family and he loved doing it. Preceding him in death was his beloved wife of 54 years, Ana Ester Sanchez; parents, Dolores and Florencio Sanchez; brothers: Evelio Sanchez, Rogelio Sanchez, Jesus Sanchez, and Jaime Sanchez; Surviving family members include his children: Frances S. Gill and husband Timothy P. Gill Jr. of Del Rio, Ana Lourdes Sanchez of Del Rio, Socorro S. Lopez and husband Jesse N. Lopez of Aransas Pass, TX, Norma Y. Lomas and husband Juan M. Lomas Jr. of Del Rio, Lidia Byrom and husband Albert Lee Byrom Jr. of Rockport, TX, Arturo A. Sanchez Jr. and wife Eva M. Sanchez of Del Rio, Modesto Sanchez and wife Laura Sanchez of Del Rio, and Vicente Sanchez and wife Alma Sanchez of Del Rio; sisters: Hercilia Soto of Del Rio, Olga S. Sandoval of Del Rio, and Angelica Sanchez of Del Rio; Arturo is also survived by 39 grandchildren, 48 great grandchildren (3 on the way), 3 great-great grandchildren, and other close relatives and friends. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 5 to 9 p.m. in the Trinity Chapel of Faith. A Holy Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. by Arturo A. Sanchez Jr. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, June 26, 2026 at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, located at 510 Wernett Street, Del Rio, Texas. Serving as the Liturgy pianist will be Roman Lomas. Burial will follow at San Felipe Cemetery. Full military honours will be rendered by the United States Army and the Jesus Limones American Legion Honorary Guard Post #595. Pallbearers will be:Christopher Lee Ramos, Arturo P. Sanchez III, Ray Hernandez Jr., Modesto Sanchez Jr., Michael Ray Sanchez, and Vicente Sanchez Jr.; Honorary Pallbearers will be: Domonick Sanchez, Emmanuel V. Sanchez, Jacob Sanchez, Julian Lomas, and Robby Hernandez. Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of Trinity Mortuary, 206 Kings Way, Del Rio, Texas (830) 775-2230. Tradition. Tribute.
